I;m sorry that falls directly on the defensive coordinator. If he knows the Ravens need a first down on 4th and 29 he has to come up with a scheme to prevent them from getting the 1st down
What did the defensive coordinator have anything to do with the three Charger players who missed the tackle at the 49-yl and the two who failed to stop Ray Rice short of the first down marker?

He could have designed a scheme that put the defensive players in position to make a quick tackle.

By the way after looking at the play again, the stupid Defensive coordinator had his defensive players defending the DEEP BALL which left all that open space in the middle of the field allowing Ray Rice to get the 1st down

Now you tell me that he shouldn't be fired??
So you think the defense should not have defended the deep ball on 4th and 29? <Mod Cut>

Didn't seem to be a scheme issue to me.. players have to make plays and they simply didn't. How many of you guys would want your defense to force the QB to check down to a RB on 4th and 29..??? I know I would... This was not a scheme issue, this was players not making plays issue. Of course, the def. cord is also on the hook when HIS players don't make plays..
I get what your saying TV guy.. force a quick pass which is what defenses like to do on 4th and LONG but NOT when its the final minutes. EVERY def. cord is gonna play it safe and try to prevent the deep pass... They have to.. if the Chargers blitz or play a base cover 2 and Flaco hits Boldin on a deep out for 30 then the def cord gets RIPPED for not playing prevent. IMO the def cord made the correct call, forced Flaco to simply dump a pass off to Rice and Rice made an exceptional play.. sometimes players make big plays..
While that was an awful play (and when I was watching, I thought to myself, ONLY the Chargers could pull off that level of fail), it was not even close to a scheme issue. Thats 1000% on the players who could not bring him down.
