It's funny how much blame Pete Carroll is shouldering for the loss while Russell Wilson seems, for the most part, to be skating by with minimal blame. Can you imagine if this had been the Cowboys and Romo threw that pick! Nobody would be pointing the finger at Garrett, it would all have been on Romo. You'd think that after a four interception game against the Packers coupled with the Super Bowl disaster that Wilson would be getting skewered but that doesn't seem to be happening. Why?

the difference is that romo has a history of making poor decisions early in his career, and he has only a handful of post season appearances, most of which are losses.

wilson on the other hand has two super bowl appearances, and despite being a rookie(essentially as he has been in the league only a few years) he hasnt made many bad decisions so far in his career.

I don't think his decision there was a bad decision. It was a physical mistake (just a little off on the throw) and a great play.

Romo makes bad mental errors consistently. This year was better.

Wilson also has a much better team than Romo ever did. Dallas' defense last year was historically bad and they still ended up at 8-8 mainly due to Romo's play. I'm going to admit to being biased as a life long Cowboy fan but I find it puzzling that Carroll is being vilified yet Russell Wilson isn't and he's the guy who threw the pick( and the four against Green Bay).

i am also a long time cowboys fan(been one since 1972!). romo has been vilified because of mistakes he made early in his career. and a big part of that reason was romo always showed flashed of brilliance over the years, but never seemed to morph into what some felt he should become.

wilson is still young and still learning, and really hasnt made that many mistakes during his short career. and in this case carroll is the one standing up and taking the blame personally so as to take much of the burden off wilson.

The defensive back has a right to the ball. As soon the ball was snapped, Butler basically made a bee-line to the spot. That said, the receiver probably could have made a better effort to the ball. Finally, why are you calling a slant, in the end zone, in the Superbowl to such an inexperienced receiver in the first place?

What was his name? Exactly.

it wasnt a bad call. usually slant patterns are tough to defend unless you flood the secondary. butler just made a great play on the ball, and executed better than the receiver did.

I think Wilson is being given a pass because 4 out of 5 times he won't throw the pick on that play. Also, the playcall to throw a slant and not a lob to Matthews or a PA rollout was just dazzlingly dumb.

On the offensive side, the Pats scored twice in the fourth quarter with two solid drives.
On the defensive side, the Pats held the Seahawks scoreless for the last 20 minutes of the game.

Both O and D stepped up when they had to...

This.

Play-action roll out and maybe you freeze the db's, who now have to play the possibility of him running it.
