Frigidaire Gallery Series Commerical Heavy Duty Dryer, Model Number: GLER642AS3

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

I purchased a Frigidaire Gallery Series heavy duty washer about 7 years ago. The model is classified as commerical heavy duty, and it does have a very large capacity. Some of the many features available with this appliance are: a moisture sensor to help determine drying time, a drum light, a drying rack (great for tennis shoes), an end-of-cycle chime, an air fluff cycle, and a range of both automatic and timed drying settings. I normally dry all my loads on the same settings, except for adjusting the heat level.
Overall I have been satisfied with this purchase. There have been a few problems with it, however. On one occasion, one of the control knobs literally broke off, but the service department had it replaced almost immediately. It is also difficult to thoroughly clean the lint trap without having a host of special tools. Finally, I have found that my unit has a tendency to move around a bit on my laundry room floor. In hindsight, I should have not set the unit on a bare tile floor, but as it is, I do get a lot of unwanted movement from the dryer. This dryer is not designated as an Energy Star appliance, and if I were to purchase a dryer today, I would want that designation.
On the positive side, the unit gets clothes dried pretty quickly. Air drying helps keep wrinkles out, and the end-of-cycle chime is easy to hear throughout the house. It will also provide a second notice.
Because it is a somewhat older model, this dryer does not have all the electronic gadgetry of many dryers you see today, and it is a fairly drab, basic white appliance. But I'm looking for functionality more than form when it comes to major appliances. Overall, this dryer receives a qualified rating from me. I will still go with Frigidaire next time, but upgrade to an Energy Star model with better lint control features.

I'm looking for a replacement "start" knob for the "Frigidaire Gallery Series Commerical Heavy Duty Dryer". Can anyone provide a knob number? I'd appreciate help.
