You who think you will be enjoying your later years because you had kids early are mistaken, if your kid is a screw up which likely one of them will be, because statistically there are alot of screw up, you willl be constantly lending them money for things. You are not going to be rich and what the point of having kids early just so you can get them out the way. I think adult kids are better than babies. For instance, I can make my adult son pay for lap dances for me, a baby can't do that. or my adult daughter can spot me money at the casino, y'all have it backwards the only good side of having kids early is that if they come out good by their mid 20s you can be relatively young (40s or 50) and get to enjoy their money. They can take you and take you places to have fun. You guys make having kids sound like a chore its suppose to be fun. The fun in having adult kids is you can do adult things togather like getting **** faced or gambling or going to a nudey bar or making them pay for your golf. What is the point of spending all your money on your kids just to kick them out your life the first chance you can? You also get to enjoy their kids without any of the responsibilities. Baby sitting once a week is fun, baby sitting every day is a pain.

Looool, some classy parenting right there!
Never thought of it that way, but now I know why we had our son - he can pay for my gambling and booze and nudie bars for hubby when he's all grown up! Awesome!

Well Obviously not when he is a kid, but when he is an adult and mature young man, yes. Do you not want to enjoy time with your kids, or are you just going to kick them out and 18. Why have kids just to kick them out the first chance you get, it doesn't even make sense!

The average bride is 31.5 in Canada. The average 1st time mother is 29.4 years old. I was 22 when I got married in 2003 and 23 when I had my first child. The area I lived in, the average first time mother was 10 years older than me. It was kind of nice going in that expectations were low. We had our college. We had a little money from family. We had jobs. And we bought a house. We had excellent credit and paid for college while we were going, so no student debt.

We didn't get any assistance 30 year old parents weren't getting. They got a year maternity leave and so did we. They got tax credits on child care expenses and so did we. Healthcare is already covered for everyone and we had health benefits on top of that through work. There isn't any WIC or food stamps and we didn't qualify for free childcare or housing assistance as we were well above the poverty line.

If we didn't know we could handle it, we wouldn't have done it. I had my 3 kids two years apart and 2.5 years apart. We had some bumps in the road, but we're happily married 10 years later. I worked for an airline until 2 years after my third child was born and we've traveled lots. We're financially comfortable. My husband has a good career. And we have wonderful children who are doing well.

I think people should wait until they're ready. Be that at 20, 30 or 40 years old. It's no one's place but you to decide. Everyone's circumstances are different. I grew up with Grandparents and Great-Grandparents. My last great-Grandparent died just before I got married. I didn't want my children to miss out on their Great-Grandparents while they're still alive. We had the option available to us and the means to do it. So we took a chance and it paid off for us. I'm not sorry for that.

I don't think that most teenagers are thinking about having babies. Normal teenagers don't want tp be parents.

No, instead they are just thinking about getting it in, or are you really that clueless?

...because biologically it's healthier to have kids at a younger age. Late teens/early 20s is when we should be doing it, as a species, but because of the ass-backwards way our economy works most of us end up waiting until our 30s when already most women have lost the majority of their eggs. The quality of men's sperm drops too as we age.

But by the same token one could argue that having kids later just forces us to evolve to be healthier at that age so it's not a terrible thing either way.

Also, the highest teen birth rates ever in our country was in the 1950s.
I don't know what led you to the conclusion that we're more 'traditional' but I would adamantly disagree and say quite the opposite. There is a larger difference in values between Generation Y and their parents than any previous one before it. Growing up with the internet exposed millennials to much more of the world in a much shorter span of time.

I guess this must be news to me. I'm a 26 year-old woman who hasn't been interested (and still isn't) in kids ever since age 13.

A lot of it has to do with socio-economic factors. Teen pregnancy is common at the local public schools, and when people graduate, they tend to have kids right out of school or soon after.

I attended a private school, and have had a lot of old school mates connect with me on Facebook. I am amazed at how many are just having kids as they approach 40 years old; many have been devoted to collecting advanced college degrees and furthering their careers - some still have no kids.

I notice this trend all over.

And thanks to T.V. "reality shows" like Teen Mom, teenagers girls want to do the same by getting pregnant early.
Why do teenagers (males and females) these days want to have babies in their early ages such as 20's?

In order to properly answer you concern (s) I think the question should be more clearly posed.

In other words are you asking the question about teenagers only (wanting to have babies in their teenage years, ages 13 to 19) or teenagers thinking and planning to have babies when they enter their 20's, or both teenagers AND 20 somethings wanting to have babies, in general?

The clarity can achieve a better answer as to the why and the when they're really ready of it?

Best regards, sincerely
