Right now, I feel totally bored...

But, lately I been trying to connect mental feelings with physical. Such as, anxiety and the "tensing up" of muscles.

I feel like, boredom.. you "feel" that your mind is empty, like an empty flash drive...

Your brain "feels" empty.

If you were out earlier, say a party, you come home.. your mind feels full... full of data...

It's like, if you go on a trip with an iPod with 500 songs on it, you got 500 songs worth of data for the long trip.. Knowing you have that data to last, well partially can remove the boredom of the trip..

But, is it really all mental?? Does our brain actually "feel" lighter or less, when there are less, uhh, say, electrical connections going on (IE, less data being stored in your brain)?

Cause my head sure feels light and empty. Literally. I wonder, if the same way a tensed up muscle makes you feel anxious, a lighter head feels bored.

Actually, I think boredom is actually arousal and frustration. I've been very anxious lately and very frustrated that I can't do what I want to do and this directly leads to boredom. While one can be relaxed and bored, I find when I'm truly relaxed I just feel less agitated, and I have less need to do things, or fill my mind with things. I can be more content to BE.

So I think it's the opposite. Boredom is a sign of more arousal/mental stress. It's a sign you're frustrated. Most people who are bored know of things they'd like to do, they simply cannot do them/achieve them.

For me, boredom is when there's plenty of enjoyable stuff to do but for some unknown reason, I just don't feel in the mood for any of it.

Empty mental space isn't bad. I compare it to serene minimilist rooms vs a room filled with clutter and mental stimulis.

I've never been bored. Some people have to fill the lull and quit space.

IMO... constant searching to combat boredom, is unhappiness or unsatisfied with their life in some way. They sometimes substitute with drama and need constant mental stimulation, not necessarily filling with anything of purpose and meaning.

Boredom is when you are so disinterested in the world that starting a thread about boredom on a net forum strikes you as a good investment of time.

Boredom is about 7,000 posts in 6 months, and often spending 8-10 hours a DAY posting on city data. Beat that!

A therapist told my adopted teenage daughter that there is no such thing as being bored . . . that it is actually anxiousness . . . .

I didn't really buy it.
