My beliefs about porn are summarized in this beautiful phrase from the Catechism:

Quote:
2354 Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world. It is a grave offense. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials.

No, it only perverts what the Catholic Church would like to preserve as an exclusively conjugal act, for the church's own selfish needs to control the faithful. But that ain't gonna happen in real life, with or without porn. Your paragraph is from a dreamworld of wishful thinking that doesn't pertain to pornography at all, but to the desire of the Catholic Church to rigorously control the private lives and personal thoughts of the fleeting few who still take them seriously.

The Catholic Church demeans the sexual act to an auto-da-fe, rather than to recognize it as an emotional and biological desire and temporary bond shared by all loving and caring members of humanity.

It's not that they "look the part", it's that they present ample evidence that they have accompanied their peers to tattoo parlors and piercing clinics and have learned how to groom their bodies for enhanced sexual arousal. And it's been a long time since there has been an 18-year-old who will be surprised by anything you will see on a free porn site.

You believe that girl when she says "Gee, Ive never done this before", you can slug it out with the previous posters who say "it's pure fiction".

About as much as I approve of sex between 30 year old females and horny 14 year old males. You have to follow the law, whether or not you agree with it. When I grew up, the age of sexual consent was 14 for boys, 16 for girls.

Erotica can be an excellent educational tool for adolescents, both male and female. In our sexually repressed culture, they often can't get a clear answer from adults about the actual mechanics of having sex. Ideally, they should have access to erotica that has been vetted by a responsible adult to eliminate the grosser forms of perversion. They shouldn't be pressed to educate themselves. Many adolescents are not inclined to engage in sex, and they should be left to their own devices. However, I have known 14 year old girls who were happy to have sex with anyone who asked, but didn't even know what their belly button was for. They had never seen a condom, and had no idea how to use one. Their middle school certainly didn't show films illustrating how to incorporate condom use into having sex. These are all things they need to know before they take their pants off for the first time.

You can preach abstinence to kids until you are blue in the face, but a good percentage of them are still going to have sex. They just won't tell you about it.

Here's a good entry point for the kind of erotica that should be available to every adolescent.

Most kids who get tats and piercings don't do it for sexual reasons, it's done as either a rebellious act or it's done because they are exercising their right as a new adult. Yeah I suppose tongue piercings serve only one purpose which I won't mention on a family forum.

I don't believe that innocent girl act either. You have to be...um...experienced one way or another before deciding to jump into porn, but that still doesn't mean they know what they are getting into. Do you honestly think they know what a grown man is capable of doing when their only experience has been with guys their age? Watching it online and having it done to you are completely different things.

BTW, I'm one of those posters who said it's fiction.

Todays PORN is yesterdays STAGG films from the 20's silent movies era's time period.

Most today have never seen a STAGG film of yesteryear let alone even hearing of one.....just shows the age group.

Before the STAGG films who knows what people did......none of them are alive today to ask.

I heard/saw my first STAGG film in the late 1930's or early 40's....has been a while...can't recall.

Adolescents will satisfy their curiosity one way or the other. Though I wouldn't encourage it, in some ways I would rather they have protected responsible sex with a caring partner than get an "education" from porn. There is no real-world context for 99% of porn; if you pay for porn you are, at least much of the time, paying for women and girls to be exploited; it tends to desensitize and feed a need for more and more; and it promotes an unrealistic expectation of real-world sex, as if every woman is horny and exhibitionist and uninhibited and adventuresome whenever the man wishes sex -- or that if not, they ought to be. And, of course, that every man and woman is a exaggerated caricature of someone's preconception of beauty. I wonder sometimes how many women get breast augmentations and bikini waxes who don't want them at all but are trying to fulfill real (or anticipated) demands from men for porn star-like appearance and perfection. I wonder sometimes how many times men and women feel like failures because they can't perform like in a porn fantasy.

In the days when porn was a dangerous, rare thing, and tame by today's standards, my guess is that everyone's expectations of sex were a lot more realistic and there was a lot more mystery and wonder to one's early experiences, despite the awkwardness.

A related area is modesty. I always encouraged my daughter to dress modestly. "Let there be some mystery", I said. It's one of the few pieces of advice that she took from me (or probably it was her inclination anyway!).

My son just moved into a 3 room apartment and his roomies are two women his age (mid 20's). I told him, treat them like sisters and don't be confused if they go flouncing past you half naked, it's not a sign that they're interested in you in that way, amazing though it may seem. It's strange to me that modesty so escapes young women. Now that dudes routinely see lady parts that used to be reserved for the bedroom, how exactly do they even signal to the guy that they are open to that kind of intimacy? They've already put on a whole show for them and all other comers.

I suppose I'm just old hopelessly old school ... I am not a prude, I'm a dude, but still, I find what passes for modern sexuality to be rather depressingly crass.

This matter must get into perspective of age, personality and curiosity,,, a 7 yr old child asking where do babies come from does NOT constitute giving him a porn film to watch...and yes, I have heard of that happening... We have SOOOOO many pedophiles going nuts now-and one this for sure, the common thread,,, video... film whatever- there is also a very high amount of trafficking and smuggling of minors for sex, and guess what,, they embeded right inot normal porn sites... Google working on it- but still... your kid could wind up in jail-- wrong site wrong age. I am as truthful as i can be about this,,, please wake up already and see some of the dangers.
The above is worth repeating. "Barely legal" porn starts looking a lot like "kiddie porn" and what prevents that child from thinking that pedophilia is wrong? Oh, yes, you're going to explain that it is all not real? Seriously. Keep in mind that porn is a business and is geared to keep them coming back for more and making sure that they don't get bored with what they see. I have read accounts from children that seen porn and if you are allowing your children to watch it, I suggest you do some reading on the web, try the mental health websites under "Sexual Issues".

I am 27, started viewing it occasionally since 18 and slowly filtered through most of what didn't fascinate me and now I am an authority on what variety of porn there is out there. You just have to look around.

Most of the mainstream porn is ick in my opinion. It demeans women and shows stuff even Superman wouldn't possibly handle. That is FAKE. It is fake and it looks fake. I hate the playboy fake stuff. Saw it once at 15 and didn't bother ever. BUT there are loads and loads of amateur stuff out there. Porn for women BY women etc etc.
I can't decide whether this is serious or not.......

...st33lcas3....You're right. Just the other day I was in a dressing room trying on some jeans and a girl opened the door on accident. She apologized to me, looked me up and down while biting her lip, then let me sex her up.

Then there was the time when i was a pizza delivery guy and knocked on the door of an apartment where a young woman lived. She didn't have cash for a tip, so...

No, porn is fiction. It's fantasy, that's why people watch it.
I loved this post.
