There is no need to fully bathe or shower daily.
if you wash up your underarms and private areas, the rest of a person really doesn't get THAT dirty, eery day, day-to-day.
So if she doesn't want to bathe/shower how about a quick wash up of those areas. That could be done daily in five mins.
That would likely take care of any odors.
Somehow this thread seems to have gotten stuck on whether people need to show daily. I said in the original post that my niece doesn't shower regularly, as in only once every 5 or 6 days. I don't think people need to shower daily, but every 5 or 6 days is not enough.
I would to know who decided that not showering/bathing EVERY DAY was unhygienic? It seems to be a relatively common assumption, but it doesn't mean it's an accurate one. I'm pretty sure people that don't shower every single day can still have great hygiene. I see a lot of people that shower every day that still look like they don't have good hygiene. Only over the past several years have people actually realized they don't have to wash their hair EVERY DAY for it to be healthy. In fact, they've discovered washing it everyday is unhealthy.
*Note: this discussion clearly depends on one's occupation/lifestyle. There are some jobs where someone would be insane to not shower when they got home.

I think it depends on the person. Obviously if she's giving off a poor odor, she should be showering more than every 5 days, or at least using deodorant. Some people are just not aware of the smells they give off. I put perfume on every day when I go to work, and I feel like it's not even on me 5 minutes after I spray it. But that doesn't mean other people aren't smelling it; I'm just clearly not.
Americans are completely neurotic about this. I recently read that the average is eight showers (full body, plus shampoo) per week. Unless you're toiling in the hot sun all day or rolling around in the mud, that's completely crazy! Only certain "parts" need daily washing. The French have the right idea.
When I was in grade school and middle school, I hated bathing. Now I pretty much do it everyday. My parents never enforced it on me when I was younger, so I had to figure it out as I got older.
when i was young my parents never taught me to bathe so i raely did, until i was in ninth grade and a friend told me"you stink"and walked away from me!Iwas so embarrassed i started showering everyday she did me a big favor sayin that so i say just tell your niece she stinks she probably doesnt realize it
