Let me be clear: I'm a heterosexual man and I'm married to a woman.

I have an interest in learning about cultures - whether it's Chinese culture or transgender culture.

I realized that although I've met a few transgender people in my life, I've never had the chance to sit down and learn about them. I honestly want to know more about why they made the decision to change and if they still had regrets.

What piqued my interest recently was this interview on the Joe Rogan podcast:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6phePAZueQw

I'm simply interested in learning more about a group of people I know very little about. Admittedly, I do have a few opinions about them, but I also accept that my views may be based on my own ignorance. I've gone online, watched videos and read articles, but I still struggle to accept giving hormones to children under 18 (but my mind is open to better understand). I also wonder if people who do transition are any better off after they do it - My opinion is that there are probably many people who do regret doing it, but once again, my mind is open.

The OP's question is the reason why there should be many, many, many intense psychological evaluations done by medical professionals to determine whether or not gender reassignment surgery should be granted to patients. Just my opinion.

Why would you 'struggle' with other people taking hormones? If it isn't you or your kid, 'struggle' is an odd word choice.

True, but we set standards for children in our society: age of consent, driver's licence, etc.

Agree, OP is playing God, evident in language such as "we set standards", who is this "we".

You shouldn't group the 2 communities as one because they have nothing to do with each other.

Sex changes are not done on children. Children do not get hormones. Some teens do, it's done very carefully. It's not a big deal once you learn about it.

..whether they should be "granted" to ANYONE? Or "granted" to a particular person? Because reputable facilities require rather long term evaluation at various stages to help ensure the person understands everything and is well-suited.

There are already. And it's called gender affirmation surgery, FYI.

“Sex reassignment surgery or SRS (also known as gender reassignment surgery, gender confirmation surgery, genital reconstruction surgery, gender-affirming surgery, or sex realignment surgery) is the surgical procedure (or procedures) by which a transgender person's physical appearance and function of their existing sexual characteristics are altered to resemble that socially associated with their identified gender.“
