I don't understand. You decided to become best friends with someone you met who was in a downward spiral?

Yeah way too much. Why are you drinking so much? How often are you drinking this amount?

Wow! that's a lot

1 liter = 33.8 ounces so roughly 2 pints + a little

When I drink I can handle 2 pints of beer, enjoy it and feel it

It's hard to imagine 2 pints of vodka being enjoyable? Maybe built up tolerance and dependence?

If you drink this way regularly I would speculate a lifespan shortened by decades and an uncomfortable end of life experience ahead.

Since you are asking, hopefully you will stop.

A litre of vodka is 40 units of alcohol

Although any amount of alcohol will cause cellular damage, it is recommended that adults never exceed 14 units a week.

The average person would die drinking 40 units in one day.

No. She was a work friend when I first knew her, and she left when they told her to go to the EAP. There was a group of us who were all in the same department and were friends who socialized at lunch and eventually outside of work.

Did not hear from her for several years after visiting her once after she left the job and realizing she was in bad shape. We assumed that the next time we'd hear anything, it would be news of her death. However, she reached out to us at work when she was sober for more than a year. I was going through a divorce, and THAT'S when we became best friends. She even lived with my daughter and me when she was going through treatment for non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Then after she was done with chemo, she started drinking again.

Ummm.... what do you think? That it's good? It's OK? I can't believe you're asking this question. Wow.

A good friend of mine buried his brother just last week. The brother was an alcoholic in his 50s, and left behind two kids in high school. It's not a good way to live or die. He was in the ICU several times in the last years, got kicked out of the house, and needed help getting back and forth to the bathroom at times.

Not if you are Russian. If you aren't - stop drinking. Yes, it is too much.

Jeez. If I drank two pints of beer, I'd be clinging desperately to the floor praying I don't slide off. I can't imagine drinking a whole liter of vodka.

Well, as someone who developed a serious alcohol problem do I think it's too much? That's your call.

But could I have finished off a liter of vodka? Yes, if I started drinking during the day. I probably couldn't have polished off a liter if I started say 7- 8 p.m. However, around noon or earlier... no problem.

I liked vodka (100% proof) and my m.o. if I had the day off was to drink, take a nap and started up again later.

If it looked like I would finish the bottle I would go to the store before I ran out. Don't recall ever finishing off two liters in a single day/evening but 1.5 liters...yes
