The reason I put mine up is to cut down on corrosion, I figure the less time it spends in the water the longer it will last.

I leave mine down if I'm only going to be gone a couple hours, but any longer and I put it up first. There's a retired guy across the lake from me that puts his back up as soon as the boat is floating, and hoses the lift off (about 10 minutes worth). Takes his little 16ft speedboat out for literally 20-30 minutes, never any longer, and then it goes back on the lift, where he washes the boat, rinses the lift again, and flushes the outboard for 15 minutes! He must be very bored in retirement.

I was thinking that it it would be a good idea to give the lift a quick rinse when finished for the day, but at the end of my ride not twice

Any reason to rinse off an aluminum lift or just if you have a galvanized?

Yes because you have different metals. Stainless steel cables and aluminum create galvanic corrosion.
