Tonight at a teen dance event a mid to late 20-something man made his way into the building (without paying) and began hanging around the students. When I (as a chaperone) approached him he said he was "The Ambassador". When I probed further he said his job had him attending all the Wake County HS events (although this was not a school event or even at a school). He claimed he was a state employee and said that he was a mentor to a lot of the kids at the event.

He's extremely personable and a very smooth talker but he story was just too weird.

Another parent asked to see ID and when he would not show us any identification the police were called. Because this man has snuck into another similar event held about a month prior he is now barred from coming to the premises.

Just checking to see if anyone knows anything else about this guy who calls himself "The Ambassador". If you need more personal details I can give to you but do not want to post on the forum.

Wow, what a creepster. Thanks to you and the other parent for making sure he didn't have continued access to the students at that event!

Sounds totally ridiculous! Why on earth would the state have a program that requires someone to do this. Wake Co schools are separate from the state govt. And if it were 'official" then someone would have contacted you or he would have documentation and it have been set up officially. I would do a little more research, find out what he was talking to the kids about. Was he there to party or was he recruiting them for anything? Further, I would call Wake Co schools admin and let them know about this so they can send out an alert to principals. Doubt RPD will do much with this as they don't have anything to go on. It wouldn't be a priority case.

If there was an ounce of truth to his story, he'd have had in ID. I'm glad failure to produce such resulted in the police being called and his banning. He is probably harmless and just a little weird, but his tactics and dishonesty are cause for alarm.

Exactly! Good job calling the police, always better safe than sorry. No way the guy was legit, hopefully Francois is right, but better not to risk it.

So he is known to the police now? He didn't manage to get away before they got there?

What a creep and a loser. I highly doubt that he had good intentions in being there. "The Ambassador", sounds like he's given himself a cool name similar to "The Situation" so that the teenagers will think he's a hotshot and he can lure them into who knows what.

If it doesn't violate any UA's, a description of this man would be great to see posted. That way parents of teens can alert their children to this guy. The kids should know if some creep is on the loose looking for them, with impure intentions. This is scary, indeed.
