Ugh!!!!!!! I am going CRAZY trying to find a white drop-in Kenmore range WITH a downdraft. Any advice on that would be great. I checked Sears Outlet in Raleigh, but doesn't look like they have a downdraft range. If you could recommend somewhere in the Triangle that would be great. Neither Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, or HHGregg carry Kenmore.
Otherwise, are people particularly picky about all the appliances being the same brand? We have a white Kenmore fridge and dishwasher and I was trying to stick with that, but apparently all these specifications really narrow it down. I know it's going to be tough to sell next year and doing all we can to make the best choices. We're also on a tight budget since we don't want to put a lot of money in a house we're not staying in.
IF it is important for appliance brands to match ANY advice would be greatly appreciated. It's an L shaped counter with no wall where the range is (as if it were an island). Can I put a slide-in? Or would the bottom drawer be in the way of the downdraft ventilation? Would free standing look funny?
They absolutely do not have to match! Don't stress over that...just get something in the same color and you will be fine.
When we purchased our house we didn't even consider if everything was the same brand. The dishwasher was a Bosch and I believe the stove and microwave were GE? I can't honestly remember because it was such a non-issue for us.

I remember it being a non-issue for us too. Maybe I just watch too much HGTV and in this economy paranoid

Thanks!
LOL...well if you are watching HGTV you have to remember that GE and those types of companies sponsor those shows. Of course they are going to give someone doing a kitchen re-do all their appliances...that's great advertising for them!
Kenmore is the sears brand - so you won't find them elsewhere. Have you tried looking at Sears themselves? not just the outlet which can be limited? They might just have a newer version of the same model.
FWIW, as long as the color matches, the brand doesn't matter.

Sears *and* Kmart sell Kenmore now after the merger. Not sure what if any product differentiation exists.
Thanks for everyone's help! I didn't realize that Kenmore was a Sears brand and I did see Sears and Kmart's websites. I will see if I can find what I need in a Kenmore if I can. Finding a drop-in AND a downdraft is tough. I'm waiting for Sears to call me back as we speak. If they don't have it then I will move on to any brand that is both affordable and is a drop-in/downdraft combo.
Sears just called and said they only had a slide-in Jenn-Air for $2300 AND we would have to have someone fix the downdraft! The other option is not using the downdraft. I'm not sure I want to risk that. So I am moving on from Kenmore and Sears.
Try Garner TV and Appliance - they wont have Kenmore but they are very knowledgeable and possibly can suggest a alternate.
