Never been to that hardware store in Apex but I live about 1/4 mile from Burke Brothers and I can't imagine how much life would suck if they closed. I make at least two trips there every weekend. It seems like they carry about 90% of the real hardware that Lowe's does, in about 1/10 the space of Lowe's hardware department (and about 1% the size of a Lowe's store - no appliances, decor, or "outdoor living" stuff that I don't need when I'm working on a project.) Trips in and out are QUICK and no matter what question you ask, they will always have at least one clerk who is knowledgable. That is worth the extra money in my opinion.
If I need lumber, Capitol City Lumber is about 1 mile down the road.
