I want them to attend a good school with teachers who wants to educate. I'm coming from Portland, Oregon. So saying that i just want some HONEST opinions. I know that some people will tell you what you want to hear but me that's not the case im looking for HONESTY that's all any suggestions on where to start?

So what are the best schools in NC? Im an African American Mother who is moving to NC with 3 young teenagers! N just because i said African American dont means that i want to be where all the crime is at. I want my children to go to the best schools. and live in the nice neighborhoods. Where we can feel comfortable and not out of reach of our own. So if someone who will be totally Honest with me give me some advice of where the schools are and where to look for housing i was thinking North Raleigh but is there another place better??.............

The best schools (from the link above), are spread throughout the area.

There's a good deal of sprawl here. Do you need to be nearer to a particular part of the area for work or family? (or both)

Have you investigated real estate (or rental) costs in the area? The range is rather wide here.

you should base your search on where you would work.

the best schools are generally in chapel hill/ carrboro but (most) wake county schools are very good, too.

Oh, don't we all.

Might be best to start exploring the neighborhoods near where you will be employed. Do any of them meet your requirements?

Do your sons have special needs or particular interests they want to explore in high school?

What is your budget? Are you planning to rent or buy?
