Default Where to buy appliances?

I'm building a new home in the area and need appliances. My builder uses Sears as a supplier, but I'm interested in some more high end options. Any suggestions on a good place to buy them? I'd like somewhere with a good selection in their showroom, would love to buy from a local company rather than a big chain. Thanks!

Well, you can actually find Electrolux at Sears.

For the other three, go here: Kitchen & Bath Galleries, 8411 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612, Tel: 919-783-8100

Check Consumer Reports. Many of the high end appliances are grossly unreliable.

More gadgets = major grief.

Yep, I would stick with Lowe's. Good customer service, always can rely on them for support. Also price match + 10% addl discount. They do sell electrolux. And youre supporting an NC business.

There is also Jeffrey's appliance and Garner RV & Appliance. Both are great. They carry slightly different manufacturers - which is how they can both stay in business <smile>. Worth a visit to each.

They might have other stores, but I have been to Garner's on Capital Blvd in Raleigh near 540 and Jeffrey's appliance on Captial blvd, toward the 440 end. What I like about buying from both of these companies is that if you have an issue *years* later & you bought from them, they will recommend a couple of repair folks that will be very reasonable.

without pushing the extended warranty deal.

I think there are also multiple places in the area for Kitchen & Bath -- if you are in Cary, then there is a 'knob' store near the Kitchen & Bath store - so you can look at higher end knobs as well if you are interested in such things. Good luck!

If you want high end. Go industrial. If you do not have room for a six burner, double oven gas stove with a grill. A double sided fridge. Buy the standard stuff. Buy pretty, pay pretty.

Consumer Reports? This is the same organization that told people who had the iPhone 4 with the bad receptions to use duct tape on their phones to solve the problem.

The OP has the right idea by wanting to go to one place that sells all the different manufacturers, especially a local store. The salespeople will give him the proper guidance.
