Organizations which need volunteer child care/child entertainment (Raleigh: school, living)

Hi Forum Community,
Do you know of any civic organizations/charities which
need volunteer child care? I am thinking perhaps
of shelters or soup kitchens which could use
some extra hands to care for/ assist with homework.
Of course, the volunteer would submit to standard
security checks.

Salvation Army uses volunteers to help with their afterschool program (kids that are living at their shelter, i believe).

Check out the Literacy Council of Wake County and their Family Literacy Program. They need help working with kids under 5 years old.

raleigh boys & girls clubs are often looking for mentors for kids there. the boys club, especially, needs volunteers of men willing to mentor boys who often have no quality father figures in their lives.
