It's funny, I can completely understand the accents of my friends and aquaintences in Raleigh (I know quite a few people there even though we're not moved yet) but I ran into one older gentleman, a door greeter at a Supercenter in Raleigh-the nice man was giving me directions to Frankie's fun park, and I couldn't make out a word he said!
He was so very nice, and had an accent like you hear there but kind of really thickly-more so than I have heard. I thanked him and my kids waved to him (he had given them smiley stickers) but I never did figure out what he said : ) He seemed happy to talk and I wanted to ask him if he was from the area (I assumed so) but I thought that might be too forward.
