Just heard news on WRAL that Kroger has purchased Harris Teeter for $2.5B. Let's hope they don't turn them into Krogers

I like Kroger
- Gas points, prescriptions, lots of gluten free food for my daughter, cheaper than HT
- I don't care about the coupons. I tried many times but most of the coupons are for foods I don't eat

I hope the Harris Teeter stores don't get converted into Kroger Stores either. I'd hate to lose the quality and the clean shopping environment.

The press release from Kroger says that they do not intend to rebrand the HT stores. They'll continue operating as Harris Teeter.

Many Kroger stores in other parts of the country are very nice and some compare well to HT. Most of the ones here in the Triangle, though, are subpar by comparison. I've never understood why.

The name Harris Teeter might stay but I highly doubt things will stay the same.

Many Krogers stores have gas stations where folks can get discounts with their Krogers's cards.

^^^If we can get discount groceries and cheaper gas out of this deal, then I'm all for it!!! The bad news is Harris Teeter claims that it will keep the "Harris Teeter banner". Does this mean no Krogers gasoline?

Seems like the good news out of this is that they'll be keeping the Harris Teeter banner and senior management. I hope they're true to their word.
