Without the tolls the Western Wake segment would not have been finished until 2022 and I believe Southern Wake wouldn't have been done until 2030. The mayors of communities in the area begged for something to be done to step up the timeline and thus - tolls.

Future Rides on Toll Roads
It probably will still be renamed I-640/NC-640 once the loop is complete.

I really don't mind the idea of paying for a road with toll money, but once the original construction bonds are paid off the tolls should come down. Maintenance of the road should come from the general fund.

The sky in my world is purple with little flying elephants.

I'm pretty sure they did say the tolls are supposed to come off when the bonds are paid. Of course that's a long way off so who knows what will happen.

It would be interesting to see if the toll law states anything about the road being free once its paid off.

IMO they should have tolled the entire 540 at a much lesser rate rather than penalizing one area of the triangle. Our tax money helped build it all, not just the part we live near.

I'm sure they tried it, but the Mayors of Raleigh, Wake Forest, Rolesville, and Knoghtdale strongly objected.

I have called TA customer service a couple time. They were very nice. They removed the late charge without a fight. They were very nice. I sent a check and it was late. I deserved the late fee. But they were very nice about it.

Dont want a bill? Get a tranponder.

Dont want a transponder? Dont take the road

Pretty simple....
