I just find this interesting.

State to buy giant mixers for Jordan Lake :: WRAL.com

Raleigh, N.C. — North Carolina's Department of Environment and Natural Resources is preparing to sign a controversial $1.3 million contract for experimental water-pollution technology for Jordan Lake, raising questions again about the technology and the contract itself.

Well it's pretty widely known that mixing water helps water quality in smaller bodies of water. You see the fountains in ponds all the time. Will be interesting if it works on such a large scale.

well if you can't fix it just mix it. maybe they should add some Oxi-Clean just to be sure .... what a joke.

I spend 150+ days a year on Falls Lake and it is so sad how bad the water has become. Don't get me wrong it's still a beautiful lake (from a distance) but I stopped drinking tap water years ago.
What was once a pristine waterway has turned into a lake that demands I wipe the yuk off my hull every visit. Can't speak about Jordan but sounds like it is even worse.

Are we so stupid that we think by mixing the water and even possibly eliminating the algae blooms that the real causes will go away. I sure hope common sense prevails here and we address a serious up-stream issue.
