. Today is just about as good as a winter's day can get! Enjoy, because it won't last for long . . .
I actually agree It's beautiful today, crisp and clean. It feels like winter without the snowy mess to deal with. I've been out and about all morning, and yes, I'm only wearing a light fleece sweatshirt My son, on the other hand, has been complaining bitterly, crying, and saying "I wish it were summer"
We did enjoy the extra two hours this morning though. Nice.
Bleah on the cold weather today and I disagree that it's just about as good as a winter day gets. That's certainly a matter of opinion. If it's going to be this cold my kids want SNOW! That makes for a nice wintry day. This just makes for cold.
Woke up this morning to find no water coming from my hot water line. guess it froze somewhere... hope a pipe doesn't bust Aside from that, this weather is great
I couldn't believe we ever hit -9 in my 47+ years. Sure enough, on one day while I was in school at State, the same "Arctic Vortex" blew up and on Jan 21, 1985 it happened. I'm assuming we took a voluntary leave of classes that day.
I was in college then as well (UNC) and I don't recall any days off for cold. I actually already knew that date was our all-time low, but I can't remember knowing that at the time. I was living in a cheap college apt with poor insulation and a 1/2 mile walk to campus. OTOH, I remember waiting for the school bus in 8th grade when it was 0 degrees, just for the novelty. I don't know why the novelty of a negative temp didn't register the same way. Maybe I should look for my old college diaries.

I remember it well. We answered 19 calls that day...didn't even get the first wink
