I am looking for a good fishing tackle store. I have been to Dicks Sporting Goods, and am not all that impressed. Where I am from we had a mom and pop store down the road that had EVERYTHING, and an Academy Sports store that had lots, and a Bass Pro Shop about an hour and 1/2 away.
Can anyone recommend a shop? I am in Cary, but am open to a drive.

There's a Bass pro shop just north of Charlotte, just off I-85.
Locally, Carolina Outdoor Sportsman used to be good, haven't been there in years though. Hill's carries Penn reels, which suggests they are good, but haven't been there. There are several good shops on the way to the coast (very good shop on US70 in Kinston), and several in Morehead City, Atlantic Beach area.
I know, I wish the site would lock old threads. 9 times out of 10 its a first time, drive by poster who revives it, and then others post not realizing its an ancient thread.
I saw the date before I posted and figured maybe they had not found anything yet?
