Whole Foods is nice, but their prices can be pretty steep.
WalMart is making a big push into organics with their recent agreement with Wild Oats. It will be interesting to see how well it works, as some (many/most ?) of the organic mindset are anti-Walmart.
Whole foods is great but can be expensive. The selection of organic products at Kroger and Harris Teeter has been growing and getting nicer over time. Even find some organic options at Food Lion. Trader Joe's is a good spot too. As far as Farmer's markets go I recommend the Durham And Carrboro Farmers markets for organic produce. Not everything is organic, but several vendors are.
Welcome to Raleigh!
I actually subscribe to 2 different delivery services - Carolina Grown (CG) and Papa Spuds (PS) who deliver directly to you. I am super spoiled! Both of these companies let you choose your items, roll your points, & allow 'vacations' which is very useful unlike some CSA's that don't allow those things. I buy my meats/milk/cheese through CG as they supply the coolers/ice packs (although I believe they have a yearly *fee* for this). I buy organic or pesticide free veggies from PS because their ordering interface makes it very easy to determine what is organic vs. pesticide free vs. local vs. not local, etc.
Delivery is consistent and quality is very high which is why I have used them both for years now.
You can choose what you want which actually saves me money by forcing me to think through our meals for the coming week. I cut my food bills as I waste very little food & only shop regular supermarkets for very specific items, which means spur of moment things do NOT drive up my food bill!
I liked Durham farmers market. I order organic produce from produce box.
