Neighbors pitch in to landscape modern Oakwood home :: WRAL.com

Sounds like most of the people in Oakwood are getting along and welcoming the new neighbors.

Save for one. But you can't make everyone happy. Glad the owners plan to move in soon.

Haha good for them. Eat that big bowl of positivity, Gail. Time for you to go, you don't want to be there and your neighbors don't want you there, just roll out!

A great development.

The idea of Raleigh's welching after approving the building permit was insane.

As would be said in NYC, "if you don't like how the house looks, don't look at it a-hole".

It's nice the neighbors did this but I understand the people who complained. I used to live in a neighborhood back in California with homes built in the 1920's-1990's and some that were renovated. One day someone decided to "build" a "modern" house that was really nothing more than a steel box. I thought I liked modern architecture but this thing was ugly and didn't fit in with the neighborhood at all. There's no HOA so people can do what they want, assuming the city has no objections to it, which they didn't.

And last week, the owners moved into their new home.
Finally.

Was there ever a lawsuit actually filed from the neighbor who hated the house? Or did they finally give up?

I would think that now that they are in, it will be much harder to do anything about it.

Yes, the suit proceeds.
But, with the Wiesners' efforts only. The Board of Adjustment has declined to continue to gratuitously persecute the victims.

A friendly observation - Some folks consider the term welch or welsh (in place of renege) to be a derogatory slur against people of Welsh origin.
