I am appearing in court to represent myself for a ticket I received (83 in a 70).
I have advice from an attorney, and I think I'll be fine, but I just am unclear on how to pay court costs and fees. I am seeing different info about what payment types are accepted: personal check, money order, certified check, cash, credit!

If not personal check or credit, how do you know how much to get the certified check or money order for? and I don't really want to be walking around with a ton (>$300?) of cash.

this is in Johnston County if it matters.

Thanks!

Yes, but I don't know how much to get the money order for until the judge rules, right? and I have to pay before I leave court?

I guess I don't know how this works. only my second speeding ticket.

Just ask. I'm sure someone will be glad to help you. Many years ago I was in the same situation and it seems like I used a personal check but not really sure.

Good luck with your court appearance!

You can only pay by certified check, money order or cash. Your ticket will give you the approximate amount due. If you don't want to carry a lot of cash, get a certified check or money order for he out costs, and bring plenty of cash any fine. There's no need to worry about carrying cash...lots of cops everywhere, lol.

Why? Courts don't accept credit cards.
