Mostly. They did hit a few ATT and TWC cable lines in other parts of my neighborhood and they have left a few box locations unfinished waiting on repairs. Also, some of the major lines seem to take longer to get the buses done. But 75% of the boxes are done and pit back in one day.
Maybe I missed it in the article, but did they mention a price?
I believe AT&T's GigaPower pricing is the same everywhere...$70/month if you let them spy on your browsing and serve you targeted ads, spam emails, and junk snail mail based on what you're browsing. It's $106/month plus a $99 installation fee if you don't let them do that.
Along 54/Chapel Hill Rd past Cary Parway and then heading towards Aviation is where I'm seeing rolls of orange cable.
They are moving east from RTP basically. They seem to be moving into parts of Preston now and are of course doing the interconnection runs alomg major roads.
They just set the first fiber hut last Friday so things are definitely moving along.
It can't come soon enough, as far as I'm concerned. I'll only be on the basic plan ($300 for 7 years) when they do roll out, but still... cheaper than TWC.
I am moving just west of Woodcroft and neither the AT&T nor the Google Fiber product is available yet. I'm going to be telecommuting through a VPN so I'll need fast internet connection. Anyone know when the Woodcroft/Valley Brook area might be getting this stuff?
I assume this is the infamous orange cable that is associated with Google? I took this on my morning commute yesterday. Chapel Hill Rd @ Keybridge Rd
I have been told that the orange cable is actually just empty conduit and they will run the fiber at a later date. Any tructh to it? I have a box at the end of my driveway and I haven't had a chance to peer down into it.
