Maybe you should think about moving to a rural location, where one has to drive to get to a mattress store. I never understood the idea of staying in a location which one does not like. There are so many options to choose from there.

I like it but it's turning to crap with all the influx from lovely areas like NJ and upstate NY.
Most NYCers don't claim them as part of the state in the first place.
