Nice find! With the influx of the Del Webb retirees plus more new communities up on Leesville, they definitely need better grocery store options.

A grocery store is in the site plan for The Corners at Brier Creek. If it is 45,600 or 49,098 square feet and has a pharmacy drive thru, it could be Publix.

To be clear, Harris Teeter bought that land almost two years ago and has declined to offer any timetable for construction.

Ah - got it. Well hopefully they build soon! And a publix nearby would be great if that rumor turned out to be true! One can hope. Now we just need a trader joes to move in...

We will NOT be getting a Trader Joe's. There are three within a 15-25 minute drive. That isn't enough to build another one, I'm afraid.

I'm not so sure this area would be too thrilled with Aldi. Even BJ's is a ghost town.

Harris Teeter will be/would be a good addition. (Personally, I prefer Kroger just because they are consistently lower priced, but HT would be a good alternative.) Publix is pretty, but the prices are nuts!

I'm not so sure. If you look at the map, a Brier Creek Trader Joe's would be right in the middle of the others. Agree with you about Aldi. Just doesn't seem like a fit for the neighborhood.

I'll tell you what, I don't think Brier Creek can support 4 grocery stores - Earthfare, Lowes Foods, Harris Teeter, and Unknown? I could see Earthfare going away. It's never very crowded.

I'd more easily imagine a Whole Foods coming here before a Trader Joe's. And that would certainly tank the Earthfare (where I only go to get olives anyway).

The additional factor with TJ's is that NC is really not a 'great' state for them to build a store because they can't sell liquor, only wine and beer. That directly affects their bottom line since there's a big markup on that stuff. But if they were to build another, I'd bet it would be in one of the outlying, high growth areas like FQ, HS or Garner. Those of us in Brier Creek can get to a TJ's too easily for them the justify building another.
