So, before I went out of town for vacation last month, I called and asked to be upgraded to the new 400 plan. After a long time back and forth with a rep (who put me "on hold" for a long time) he said to reboot the router - which I thought meant it was done, but my speed is the same.
I never had a chance to get back on live chat after I got back, but my speed is still 200 after rebooting again.
Just now I went to the website and clicked "Upgrade services" but the only higher choice is the old 300/20 plan.
Maybe this isn't rolled out to my area (Wakefield) yet?
Did anyone get the 940Mbit speed yet? I've read reviews on other sites but would like some first hand experience from our area. My 200Mbit plan went up from $55 to $80 starting with the current invoice. One main disadvantage I see of the upgrade is that Spectrum provides the modem. Yes, it's no upcharge but I'd be surprised if you can use it that easily as a pure drop-in replacement for an existing dedicated modem. I don't need their wifi and routing capability, my existing equipment is superior.

Hey,
I got it today. You cannot use your own modem with the new gig service. It uses a completely different channel scheme (google DOCSIS 3.1 vs. 3.0). Their modem is free. Technicolor 4400 something. You can bring your own router, but my top of the line Asus router isn't fast enough. I'm about to try their router, which they left (also free but you don't have to use it) and has good reviews. If all else fails, Ubiquiti I guess.
Oh, and their modem was a drop in replacement for my modem. But like I mentioned, I think I'll have to replace the router anyway. What router do you have?

Other than a modem change, were there any other installation requirements? Is the feed into the modem coaxial, or does it require Cat5 or other cabling?
I got stopped in a store while shopping, by a Spectrum rep there. I told him I am not on any contract, just the $45 price after coming off a 1 year promo for standard Internet (no bundle), and I'm getting 50mbps. He told me I could get 200mpbs with *no* change in price at all, no contract needed, and I should just call Spectrum.
I didn't believe him and didn't call Spectrum, not wanting to upset the cart and have my pricing suddenly go up. I don't trust Spectrum and while 50mbps isn't that fast, it's fine for me. I have my own modem (SB6121) which is DOCIS 3.0., not the faster model SB6141.

Nope. After testing the line, he claimed there was a filter on the line, so he went out to the pedastal on the front lawn and poked around. I wasn't watching too closely. Then he came back inside, re-unplugged the same old coax from my old cable modem to his new one, said "Yup, 1.1 gig down, all good" and swapped them out. (My modem was directly swapped out with theirs (Technicolor), with the cat5e now going from the new modem to the router.) He also went to the cable entry point to "check for grounding."
Part of me thinks they're just rolling a truck to justify a $199 for those of us willing to pony up for the premium service. But apparently docsis 3.1 uses a different channel structure, so maybe line strength is an issue. Like they can't see signal strength from the head end?
