In that example I would agree.

Agree, but we can't really have limitless open debate on such a subject (both here because of rules) and because the dynamic nature of people.

I like Mayor Pete. Not sure he is ready for Primetime. But not really sure his demeanor is the issue. He polls poorly with African Americans (a key bloc in the Dem Primaries) and having a First Man (instead of First Lady) would not fly for a sizable portion of our country.

I would argue he polls well because he represents the safe center; he presumably wont rock any boats in his attempt.

I would agree but that misses some of the point. Laws, which are written by the House, have passed, only to die on the Senate floor. Failing to get a vote, let alone the need for 60 Yays, is an indictment in and of itself.

He's not my candidate. I personally find Pete Buttigieg too moderate and inexperienced, but I think he is a good candidate. He's smart, charismatic, and engaging. Even if he doesn't win, I'm sure he will stay on the national stage.

I think if you really want him to come to NC, you should do your best to help him gain a presence in this state so he has a reason to visit.

He's not mine either but I do like his approach and admire what he has accomplished in his life.

If I had to pick a Dem Candidate it would be Jim Webb. I liked him on the Dem side last election cycle. I enjoy his books. He gets the average American.

In this cycle, however, I dont see any on the Dem side worth looking at. The closest one I would even glance at is Gabbard.

Unfortunately they all seem intent on who can float the farthest left ideas like PC, reparations, etc. None of which are wanted by your average blue collar American trying to feed his family.

My entire extended family was solid union dems for almost a century until Reagan. Flipped to Ind/Rep between the mid 90s after Clinton and during Obama's first term.

Who many are assuming will endorse DJT when she drops out of the race (given the Q stuff)

As a Christian, are you at all concerned about Gabbard's support for Syrian President Assad?

She's an enigma wrapped in a riddle.

Way left on Guns, Abortion, Foreign Policy, THC, Healthcare, all Criminal Justice issues, Financial Regulations, Minimum Wage, Free College, the Electoral College....the list goes on and on.

But then there's the Putin, Assad and QAnon connections that make you scratch your head.

I used to be what was called a "Blue Dog Democrat" mixed with some populism, similar to my grandpa, but when I turned 17 I registered as an Independent.

I.e in the vein of JFK, FDR to some extent, Clinton (Bill) to a little extent.

Very Socially Conservative by today's standard with populist Economics. It's hard to describe as there are practically none left in the Dem Party. We've swapped to Rep or Ind for the most part. There's a few in the "Blue Dog Coalition", but they've kind of redefined that term nowadays to just mean moderate rather than what Blue Dig used to be.

Joe Manchin is kind of similar, like Webb, but they're both not socially conservative enough. However they're likely the closest "mainstream" thing to an old Blue Dog.
