Cary has 100000+ people and I don't think they had any murders in all of 2006

Is it good how? You heard what is better? Whether it's "better" all depends what you like!

Low crime, good schools, reasonable price compare to Miami will describe the area, Can you be more specific on what you are looking for?

We just arrived 10 days ago and LOVE IT! We keep asking ourselves why we didn't make the move sooner. It is a beautiful town with wonderful surrounding communities. Each day we venture somewhere new and find more fantastic places. Today we hung out in Carrboro. I know I will never be one of the transplants who keeps saying "well, back home we......".
This IS home!!

Cary is fine if you like the atmosphere and the lack of freedom imposed in the name of "protecting property values".

If it fits your lifestyle, enjoy. if not, there are many other choices in the Triangle area.

I agree with you SF. We were not intent on only Cary properties, we looked throughout the area and really liked all of them. Love Raleigh as well, Chapel Hill is awesome but too pricey, loved many parts of Durham. It just happened that the place we found is in Cary but we were open to everywhere.

Thanks for sharing your questions and responses! We're on our way to NC next week to check out various neighborhoods. Schools aren't an issue, we're empty-nesters...that hurt! - we're YOUNG empty-nesters!
We're going to include the areas outside of Raleigh Durham.
Can anyone suggest surrounding towns that aren't as pricey as Cary, and that don't have 'cookie cutter' houses on top on one another?
Thanks!!!

Default Good areas?

Good? They're g-r-e-a-t, as Tony the Tiger says.

There is nothing I have found that I don't like about Cary, but I know some here may disagree. If I've said it once, I'll say it a hundred times -- Cary strikes me as what developers had in mind when they envisioned the suburbs all those year ago. I don't think it is everyone's cup of tea, so to speak, but it is easy-paced, family-friendly, and very pretty, just about everywhere I go.

Cary is not as pricey as Cary and does not have cookie-cutter houses one on top of the other.
But...you just have to know where to look.

All towns in the Triangle have new development that tends to be small lots and repetitive floor plans, unless you get into custom-build. Some of the custom-builders repeat floor plans in a subdivision, also.

And all towns in the Triangle have areas that are less repetitive with larger lots.

You will need to offer more detail to get good input, i.e., an acceptable cost and expected features, including acceptable lot size.
Discovering what you want is part of the fun of moving.
