Hi Folks, while I was driving down to Raleigh from Vermont last month, I stopped off at a gas station just outside Richmond, VA and found that they were selling my wife's cigarette brand(Doral Methanol lights 100s) for a little over $22 a carton. Now considering she is paying over $50 a carton for her brand in vermont, I decided to buy her a couple of cartons and mail them to her. She now needs some more cigarettes and so I was planning to drive back up to Richmond to get them as the cigarettes here seem to be in the $35 a carton range for her brand.
Going forward, this is a ridiculous thing to do especially with high gas prices( I wish she would just quit smoking but I have to accept that she probably won't)........so I was kind of hoping someone could tell me where I could find a discount cigarette store in NC where I could find her cigarettes at a similar price...............I mean would it be worth my time to go to cigarette central......aka Winston-Salem or is there somewhere closer to Raleigh/Durham.
I just started a new job in Durham and my wife is joining me next month when our house finally closes in Vermont so I would like to find a store where she can regularly buy her Cigges without bankrupting us before she comes down!!!!!
You might want to review Vermont laws before committing this act as it could end up being more costly in the long run, as all states with sales taxes also have use taxes that apply to residents’ out-of-state purchases, and state governments are getting more aggressive in collecting these taxes. Add in the fact you are sending the cigarettes via mail, you leave yourself more open than if you just drove the items to VT yourself.
It's about an hour west of Raleigh, but "JR's", off I-40 near Elon/Greensboro is a cigarette-smoker's paradise. I don't smoke, but have been in there, and it's like the Disneyland of cigarettes. It might be worth a drive there just to stock up. There are many, many signs; you can't miss it.

Not only that, but some states prohibit shipping cigarettes from out of state (at least above some small threshold).
Try Smoker Friendly....I know they are all over the Triangle area. Whenever I visit Raleigh from NY(where cigs are darn near 8 dollars a pack )I try to stock up there. Do a Google search for them near your address. They have many locations. As for the mailing part, you might want to listen to the other posters on the forum. Good luck
