Yeah, it was a Keith Corp sign. They’re shooting for more than a grocery store at that valuation. And honestly, it’s a pretty well located site so just a grocery and a few in-line shops is probably not the best use of the property.
Located right at one of the proposed BRT stops. Perfect spot for higher-density mixed-use that could still include a grocery store if they wanted. In fact, I think higher density would be required for any new development proposal there. I seem to remember the city put in a transit-related zoning overlay to push for higher density. The HT proposal preceded that though, so didn't have to follow it and the developers didn't want to do it voluntarily even though the city pushed for them to.
Pretty significant news for the sports center at South Hills...the project cost is now $560 million (including $75 million from the county hotel tax fund), which the council is unwilling to try to fund all in one go. As a result, the arena will be pushed to a second phase, with the first phase including the community center and senior center portions to cost no more than $200 million.
Several other major capital projects on the wish list: $60 million for tennis/pickleball expansion at the tennis park topped the list, $150 million for the Mills Park community center, $30 million for the Walnut Creek greenway to connect downtown to South Hills via Fenton, $10 million for an Asian garden (unclear to me where this would be), and $10 million for a first phase of the Earnest Jones park property in Chatham County.

I guess that explains why Cary is planning a 33% property tax hike...
