Hello,

I will be visiting Raleigh again next week and I would like to check out some subdivisions in North/North East Raleigh. My price range is no more than 250k. Can anyone recommend any? I have been doing research and I don't know which ones to look at.
Thanks!

Probably the best option is to look at old homes...not new ones. I like going on that trulia website and picking certain N. Raleigh zip codes. I like North and Northwest raleigh better than Northeast Raleigh

These are just a couple and some of them have a very limited number of homes ~ $250k but nonetheless I have seen them.

N.W Raleigh:
Dominion Park
Harrington Grove
Cornerstone Park
Charleston Homes at Alexander Place

N/NE Raleigh:
Wakefield
Bedford
Falls River
Durrant Trace
Durrant Trails

Also be advised that those are big neighborhoods. There are plenty of other smaller neighborhoods in North/NW Raleigh where you can get a 1900-2100 sq. ft. house for around $230-$250k and our "nicer" areas then some places in NE Raleigh that are cheaper. I'm not dissing NE Raleigh, just saying that it's cheaper than NW Raleigh and hence you will find that crime tends to be higher in certain areas of NE Raleigh, although not as bad as other areas within the Ralegih/Durham area.

I'm not sure that ANY of the neighborhoods mentioned above are really considered NE Raleigh. Bedford and Wakefield ARE larger... but crime? Less expensive? Nope. For houses in the price range mentioned, Durant Trails and homes around Durant Road would be great. These neighborhoods have great reputations and are considered desirable.

I should have clarified. I wasn't talking about those neighborhoods mentioned. I was just talking about areas pretty much east of Capital and Forestville rds. that are considered NE Raleigh.

I think Durant trails is awesome. I have a friend who lives there. Nice house on .25 acres with mature trees. Nice home can be found the for the low 200's. Worth a look if I were looking in N. Raleigh.

I would definitely choose NW over NE Raleigh.

Delta Ridge could also be added to the list.
