Can someone point me towards the multi-million dollar home communities in the area? I'm looking for communities (or even outside of communities) with large homes on properties with AT LEAST 1 acre of land.
Cary, Raleigh, N. Raleigh, Chapel Hill, or Durham areas would be nice. I've got some wealthy friends visiting in a few weekends and they would love to look at some luxury homes. They've been here once and looked at Rosemont and loved it, but would like to look at more communities with similar aspects.

North East Chatham County near Chapel Hill has a few choices and is a good place to look

Colvard Farms is a great one in Southwest Durham. Preston Country Club Area in Cary. I believe there is some nice homes near a golf course in Southern Cary, just south of Tryon Road, but I forget the name.

Linville, Devon, Rose Hall (just started selling), Faircroft and Chatsworth in North Raleigh are some of my favorites and in great locations. These all have winding roads, trees, and easy commuting locations. Swan's Mill is nice too, but I don't believe there are any new homes in that subdivison as they started building in that subdivision in 1993 and later. There is also Belmont Ridge.
Also Lake Forest in Chapel Hill, right on the water. Minimum lot sizes there are .50 acres, but most are closer to 1.5-2 acres.
But $1,000,000+ homes are not unusual in Chapel Hill. They are scattered all over as well as in the places mentioned above. That's a huge amount of geography and kind of does not make sense to approach it like this. She needs to figure out where she wants to be (Raleigh area, Durham, Chapel Hill) and then get a realtor and tell them what sort of community/home she is looking for. She could spend weeks driving all over the triangle with the current approach.
Think it was just lowered again.
Due to-
Tiiiiiiiiiin roof... rusted.
Good point frogandtoad, maybe they can narrow it down some.
