My wife has a good job offer in RTP and we are in the process of considering relocating to the area. One of the factors is finding me a job now as well. I have just started looking and I'm doing some initial research into local companies.

I have a strong IT background and I am now working in web/interactive marketing at a management level. I could work for a smaller design agency or I also could work in web marketing for a larger corporation.

Given that, can anyone make some recommendations of some great companies to apply to in the area? I am putting a list of companies together but am looking for some strong ones to start out with. Thanks!

Although this is a list of various companies (not just IT) you may want to look at the carolina parent magazine website (carolinaparent.com) because every year they do a list of the top 40 (I think) family friendly employers in the triangle that the readers vote for..........it may give you some ideas.

Check Fortune's list of Top 100 Best Companies to Work For and see which have offices in the area. I myself work for #99. SAS is the only one I know of that is based here (hard to get a job there, though). Cisco has a big campus here. I'm sure there are others on the list.

SAS isn't hard to get into if you have the right background. I would go to their website and apply for anything that's open. With their benefits, you can't go wrong. On-site health care, on-site childcare, subsidized cafeterias, etc.
