Husband and I are new to the Raleigh area from Austin, TX. We were out looking at one particular area in NE Raleigh right before you enter Knightdale today. We found a house that looked interesting, so we went to the end of the street and then turned back around and sat in front of the house just long enough to get an information paper out of the info. tube. I noticed a car behind us, that could have passed us, but for some reason just sat behind us until we moved on. We turned right, and they proceeded to turn left, so I didn't think much of it. Somehow we got turned around and needed to stop on another street, just to get our street atlas turned the right direction - LOL! At any rate, I believe the same car that we encountered on the previous street came towards us from the other direction, stopped beside us and honked her horn. I rolled down the window and smiled, and she asked, "Are you looking for someone?" I answered, no that we were just looking at properties. She then said, "Well keep on looking", and drove off.
I looked at my husband and we just laughed. You meet some rude folks along the way and I alway wish that I had a snappy comeback when I encounter them. At any rate, we won't let this silly little woman cause any grief on our part. Just thought it was an odd thing to happen. Guess she doesn't know about southern hospitality! My husband thought that she is probably bent out of shape over everyone moving into the area, that was once, "Out in the boonies".
Thats a very strange encounter, indeed. Maybe she thought you were the bill collector looking for her??? Maybe she was going to help and then thought she'd get more joy out of being rude??? Anyway...glad you didn't take it personally. Some people just can't stand others to be happy!!! Welcome to NC! The rest of us are happy that you are here! Vicki
You should have told her you were with the Publisher's Clearing House Prize Patrol and you were looking for her house! That would get anybody's attention! LOL

Sorry about that Lolligrump; but I am glad you did take it personally. I figure they have unhappy, miserable people everywhere you go.
Its how you handle it that matters

Actually, she probably meant it in a friendly way. as "don't let me stop you".
The look on her face and the irrated body language I think said otherwise. Nice of you to try and make it possible that she was just trying to be nice.
