I think Houston's is one of the best upscale chain restaurants out there, and would gladly take one of those here in lieu of a poor sole proprietership

Gotcha.

Heck, I would eat any kind of food, except maybe cake that was sneezed on. McCormick & Schmick's has a great dessert menu. Mmmmmmmmm!

Great food and nice atomsphere. I wandered in about 4:00 on a Friday night and the nicer dining area doesn't open till a bit later so I found a nice spot in the bar. They have a fun happy hour menu and before I knew it the two gals next two me and I were swapping appetizers! Everything I ate was yummy.Enjoy, My husband couldn't join me but I never let going out alone affect me. I have there is always someone around to have a nice conversation with and before I know it we're fast friends.

We went there during our last visit to Raleigh. I was the odd-woman-out in that I wanted to go to a local seafood place and everyone else in our group wanted to go to M&S Crabtree. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was unbelievable, and I too, am shocked that it's a chain and is still so good. Very pricey with libations, but very worth it to us.

Do I have to be a "preferred guest member" to use this coupon?

If you want to keep your money in the local economy and support small business owners and make sure your town's character stays intact, may I suggest Squids, Fishmongers or Blu.

Thanks for the recommendations - we didn't plan ahead in terms of food and didn't know of a local seafood place. Can't wait to try them - but in any case, M&S is certainly yummy! This summer we went to Virginia Beach and went to a lovely local seafood restaurant and I was SO disappointed that they did not have two main things on their menu - steamed shrimp w/Old Bay and crablegs. It was a very well known seafood restaurant - I just can't imagine a GOOD seafood restaurant without these two basics on the menu!
