Trying to investigate the NC area I am looking into moving in Iam finding some disturbing information. When going to "scorecard" a site with information on chemical pollution listing states in order from worst to best, and also goverment sites, I was surprised to find out how high NC ranked on the list in many catagories. Mostly toxic chemicals in the air. For those who live in NC is this a concern that you hear about on the new or in the newspaper?

i find the pine pollen more of an iritation than any pollution - having lived in London in the filthy polluted air for 20 years I never expected that tree's would cause memore grief than ever experienced in a big city - good news is its only for a few weeks a year lol

Why doesn't the person who started the thread share why they posted it?

Raleigh is a city...it will have pollution simply because the vast number of people living in a closely defined space. It's not an isolated mountain town with no industry.

I believe ongoing pollution controls are needed and emission standards needed to be always refined and toughened as new technologies come online. We can always do better and need to do better.

However, Wake County is not some toxic waste dump you can breathe deeply and not take 5 years off your life and the only pollution I notice is all natural pine pollen.

Default Yeah i agree

Yes Tree pollen , especially from Pine could be rough on some. I guess the person who started the pollution thread was curious on the pollution levels in Raleigh, some places rate very bad, other cities rate very good.

Here in Vegas we have our smog every now & then, but heavy winds every few weeks blow our pollution out of the valley.

Thanks

in response to amsm196. That I should "say" why I posted. I did. Go back and look at the post, I am looking to move there and was researching the area. I have children so obviously the air quality, etc is a concern. I had read about the exlosion in the apex chemical plant on this site, and decided to check out further.
