I have decided to transfer this spring to GTCC for their Architectural Tech. program (Greensboro campus) and then transfer to UNCG's IARC program. Plan on moving to Hillsborough area soon so I will be commuting from there. Just wondering what the commute is like on 85. I hate 85 esp. between Mebane and Greensboro for some reason. Anyways, just wondering how it is for those who actually do it? Not sure exactly what hours yet, but probably pretty close regular rush hours.
Hello. It takes me 35 minutes to get from Mebane to downtown Greensboro and I work 8:30 - 5 each day. I think it's an easy commute and the traffic is rarely heavy-not like it is going to Raleigh or anything.
I used to drive from NW Greensboro (Cardinal CC area) to Forest Hills (Durham). Took me 1 hour 10 minutes, door to door. Really wasn't all that bad a commute!
Hi, we live in W. Cary near Morrisville and my husband drives to Greensboro every day , works from 3-11:30 p.m. It takes him 1 hour and 1/2 door to door. Good luck!
i commute from SW Durham to Greensboro (well, more like High Point) daily. it's about an hour, but it's really not all bad. of course, you're talking to someone whose driving career was 100% SoCal prior to moving here, so my perspective may be a bit biased. still, i never hit traffic jams and the roads aren't crazy busy. some advice:
1) gas of exit 150 is always cheapeast, but can be crowded. the stations off exit 154 are always withing a couple of cents and are never that busy.
2) Business 40 in Greensboro is the way to go. people will tell you it's too congested, but i've never thought it to be that bad.
Mike
