In Chapel Hill? Not much. In Durham, there are a few good ones.
- Hong Kong for Dim Sum on Sunday mornings. We've never eaten there for other meals. Get there at 11 sharp else you'll be waiting for a while!
All of these place have many actual Chinese customers. It's always a measure of a good ethnic restaurant to see people of that ethnicity eating there!
Seconded!! We go every Sunday at 11, are seated promptly (although they know us since we have eaten there every week for 4 years), and when we leave we pass a huge crowd waiting to be seated.
Very authentic (my family is from Manhattan, so we know, haha). Chicken feet, sticky rice, hombow, fried squid, eggplant, chow fun noodle with shrimp... The works.
I am not a connoisseur by any means but I always thought jujube was pretty interesting & good. For standard takeout Chinese (General Tso's Chicken, etc), I found Hunam at MLK & Hillsborough to be pretty good.
In Chapel Hill, we always went to 35 Chinese, or Chinese 35... It was buffet style or menu ordering, good quality, clean, and offered a student discount.
35 as well, not a fan of any buffet style place, but if we go we arrive when it just opens to be first...lol or we order from the menu, agree that it's good, clean and the staff is very nice. We also go to the chain place PF Changs in Durham by Southpoint Mall, good, clean and great service there as well.
