In Chapel Hill? Not much. In Durham, there are a few good ones.

- Eastern Lights near the Target at the old Southsquare mall location. Fresh food. Very flavorful and good sized portions.
- Shanghai in the Kroger shopping center on Hillsborough Rd. Same as Eastern Lights.
- Hong Kong for Dim Sum on Sunday mornings. We've never eaten there for other meals. Get there at 11 sharp else you'll be waiting for a while!

All of these place have many actual Chinese customers. It's always a measure of a good ethnic restaurant to see people of that ethnicity eating there!

In Chapel Hill, we always went to 35 Chinese, or Chinese 35... It was buffet style or menu ordering, good quality, clean, and offered a student discount.

I had high hopes for Ming Garden because of their menu, but when I went there I saw their score was low (I forgot what but definitely the low side of A) - the beef was almost raw and the waiter was just a bad waiter...

In Durham my favorite place is China Palace on Garrett, right next to Chapel Hill. Eastern Lights is good too.

What we really need is a good true Szechuan restaurant. One that understands it's not truly szechuan beef unless you use the Szechuan peppercorns.

Neo-China off University in Durham is good.

Honestly, much better off in the Chapel Hill area with other asian cuisines. Lime and Basil (vietnemese-CH) and Thai Cafe (Durham) are fantastic, and Aki Hana and Oishii (sushi/Japanese-CH) are very good.

What about Ju Ju Be's? I've heard it's a mix between Chinese and Vietnamese. I haven't been there yet. But I've heard it gets good reviews. I'd love to hear if anyone gives it a thumbs up or down.

I LOVE the Thai Cafe in Durham in Rockwood Plaza. Yum!

Yeah but Neo China thinks everything should contain squash and zucchini. I've never seen anything like it.

Maybe so, but when I picked up my takeout from there yesterday (Durham locale) I was pleased to see the 100 sanitation score on the wall. That's something I haven't frequently seen at a Chinese Restaurant.

Eaten there twice. First time for lunch. Was good. Second time was for the Tuesday night Chef's table. A 20 course dinner for $60. AMAZING. We were shocked to see the menu the chef had prepared for us: Italian food. He's trained in Italian cooking and that's what he preapred for us. And on Wed nights, Jujube serves Italian food. More info on their website. Highly recommend the Chef's table to anyone looking for a fun and delicious experience. We chatted with Chef Josh as he prepared all of our food. I've never eaten so much in my life!
