Having done a move when the temperature and humidity were both around 90, I'd take the cold temps over the hot temps. When it's cold you can always put on more layers, and moving/hauling stuff will raise your heartrate and keep you toasty warm. When it's hot out you can only take off so much...

It could certainly be a LOT worse. You could be living in the NE where you're living with those temperatures for days (weeks) on end while the wind blows snow in your face every morning.

So true. People up north would laugh if they heard what a fuss they are making in the Triangle about the 44 hours below freezing that we are going to be experiencing this weekend. I know it's all about what you are used to but I think most of us know how to add another layer and just deal with it.

That's the first time in my life I have ever heard such a foolish thing.
Well, that's exactly what they do here in NC--you know, the place you are the self-professed "expert" on? People always report the "extreme" temperature because that's what is noteworthy. It is inconsequential to say "it will be 28 on Friday" [high] because that's what you expect for January here--same with saying "it will be 65 on Aug 15" when that's the low; instead you would say "Wow, it's going to be 93!"

If the forecast is correct, it IS going to be 14 Friday. It is also going to be 28 Friday. Not to mention 15, 16, 17,...25, 26, and 27. Any one of these figures would be absolutely correct to mention as Friday's temperature, but when bringing it up in conversation, it's typical to cite the most NOTEWORTHY one, which in this case is 14.

Oh, and please stop calling NC ways of speaking "foolish", or go back to your own state.

It's going to be a high of 5 and a low of -1 with snow in Ohio Friday. I'll take this weather instead and not complain.

I have to laugh ... coming from north of Siberacuse, 14 degrees for a low is pretty generous ... there were days that the highs didn't get out of the single digits for days at a time. That and the 200+ inches of snow each year.

Just like we can tough out the heat and humidity in the summer - the double hunderds [sic] - we can look at the cerulean skies and loverly green grass from inside our heated homes !

Not bad I would like 14 on Friday. The report here is going to be -10 to -15. That does not include windchill.

Thumbs up It's Going To Be A Balmy 28 Degrees Friday

I see the meteorologists are predicting Friday to be 28 degrees. This will be the coldest day I have experienced here, as it will be 21 degrees lower than average at this time of year. On the brighter side, that is downright balmy compared to what dozens of days are like every year back in MA. The heck with 44 hours below freezing. Try 44 DAYS belows freezing.
