so my boyfriend and i have the day off together (which never happens) this friday. . . aaand our beloved puppy will be at the vet all day so our usual dog park routine is out.

i'm looking for something fun to do during the day, either in Raleigh or within an hour or so (a little day trip if you will, since we have tickets to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at night). i know its "first friday", but i guess that doesn't really start until 6 or so and the show is at 8.

so if you had a weekday off---what would you do? where would you go? what are the good towns to explore?

thaaanks!

The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival (http://www.fullframefest.org/news.php - broken link) starts at the Carolina Theatre in Durham this weekend--though it's kind of a shame to spend what looks to be a gorgeous spring day sitting in a theatre (plus you will be going to the theatre at night!)

how many hours do you think we need to devote to going to the zoo? I mean how many would you consider enough to get the full experience and not miss any good bits. . . .

we like to poke around. . . explore. . . tour old/historic buildings/towns. . . go to places things are made (beer, cheese, etc). . .

The zoo is a good day trip. We usually spend 3-4 hours there, plus 1 1/2 hours there and another 1 1/2 back.

Pittsboro is nice to poke around. Here's a link to NRG's great photos of Pittsboro: Pictures of Downtown Pittsboro, NC

Bennett Place in Durham is a good historic site. You could go there and go to the Duke Homestead.

Top 5 things to do with a Friday off!

5. Being its NCAA weekend. Visit SONIC and order the tater tots and reject your friend as they proceed to put a tot up to their mouths....and proclaim, "Go strong or don't go at all!"

4. Look for a low cost 1st, 2nd, or Refinanced mortgage.

3. Visit a local car lot and see if you can get a car whole car for 1/2 the money.
Dress up in a funky suit and carry a Mic and proclaim, "Let's make a deal!"

2. Visit every Star bucks in the Triangle! Once and only once in a day!

1. Friday will be the start of the WCPSS Spring Break (Ops scratch that, Friday will be the unofficial) start of WCPSS Spring Break. Avoid Rt 40 East like the Plague unless of coarse bumper to bumper to side swipe to t-Boned is your kind of driving!

So these were a mere 5 things to do this Friday, there are many many many or should I say chitty chitty bang bang more to do!!!!!
