[font=Helv][SIZE=1]Please know before you move here with children that Wake County School Board president Rosa Gills publically announced in the News and Observer that THERE ARE NO NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS IN WAKE COUNTY. iWhich means, that if you move here you can look forward to the insecurity of not knowing whether your child will, from one year to the next, be reassigned arbitrarily by the school board. I have three children and my whole family affected by this big brother decision. I encourage you to do research into the school board's biographies. It will become clear that their priorities are a social engineering agenda and not an educational agenda for your children.

Many children are 'shipped' 45 min or more one way with school beginning at 7am. Think about how much time there is to reconnect with family and study at home....

Welcome to Socialism circa 2008....

Want to be hated by parents and taxpayers? Then the Wake County school system has the job for you.
You get to oversee the student reassignment plan. You have to figure out how to convert schools to a year-round calendar. And you determine how many new schools have to be built in a bond issue that will raise property taxes.
It's all in a day's work for Chuck Dulaney, who recently accepted the newly created position of assistant superintendent for growth and planning.

OK...is there anything else you'd like to inform (spam) us about that hasn't been discussed OVER and OVER and OVER again? That poor horse is beaten so unbelieveably dead!

Nope, there are no neighborhood schools here (except mine! ;-)).

Um, has the president of the school board actually SAID there are no neighborhood school publically before? I don't think so. And where is your school? Don't let that out of the bag. Rosa will soon target you.

Technically speaking, socialism is when childless singles and couples have to pay tax dollars to fund your children's education through the public sector.

One should be thankful that our government offers education to your child(ren) at all. In a truly democratic and capitalist society, you'd be left with either homeschooling or private school as your only option.

I've said openly what our school is. We don't get redistricted because we already live in a socioeconomically diverse area, with a high FNR and low growth (older neighborhood). And I'm not afraid of "Rosa". If we get redistricted, we'll go and make the best of it.

I think your responses will be of deep interest to those considering moving to the area.
I don't pretend to be a complete scholar of Socialism. I do know that a major component isocial engineering, which is a key component of the reassignement plans.

Socialist thought leaders include Marx. Winston Churchil proclaimed: " a socialist policy is abhorrent to the British ideas of freedom. Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance."

This is what happens when hordes of sheep flood into an area in order to buy ever-bigger McMansion's and destroy the quality-of-life of the natives. It is not natural for such an influx of people such as Raleigh has experienced over the past decade. The result is over-crowding, traffic, sprawl, pollution, water shortages, etc. Do a little research before moving somewhere, other than online trying to decide which new neighborhood to "pick." Willow Springs or Clayton. blah, blah, blah.

Just imagine if you were someone who grew up in the triangle knowing a certain quality-of-life and simply wished the same thing for your children, only to now be mired in this absurd growth and the corresponding issues that have come with the Long Island/New Jersey invasion.

Yeah, well. I agree. I see your point. I've been very distraught in the 20 years I've lived here to see the farms disappear. How long does it take to be a native? My kids were all born here.

Yes, everyone wants to live in Mayberry. And its one thing when Mayberry becomes overcrowded. Its quite ANOTHER thing when the Gestapo arrives and starts telling people when to jump and how high!

SarahMom, you are misrepresenting Board president Rosa Gill's position.

The students are not "arbitrarily" assigned by the school board; students are assigned according to geographical node. While I can sympathize with your frustration and fear of the uncertain, I don't see how making these unsubstantiated claims will help further your cause.

Social engineering and education are not mutually exclusive. Social engineering refer to the efforts to influence attitudes and social behavior on a large scale. Our criminal laws, civil laws, and tax policy are some examples of social engineering. Without social engineering, we would have complete anarchy.

Moreover, if your chief complaint is "time" to recommend with family and study at home, you are welcome to homeschool your children or send them to private school close to your house.
