We are not looking to buy right now, but I am curious about the Lakepark subdivision near Shelly lake in Raleigh. The houses that come up for sale there seem to be very unique, contemporary and updated. It looks like the majority were built in the 1970's. Does anyone know if these were good quality built and if that area is a nice area and safe. Just would like to know a little bit more about Lakepark. It always tops my list of homes that catch my eye when looking.

Great location off Leadmine Rd with some reasonable sized wooded lots.

The homes are old enough that you should evaluate them house by house, individually, since variations in maintenance and updates and general wear and tear can be quite large after 30 years.
I have seen some that I thought were very nice, and a few that said, "Bow Wow Wow...."

It IS a very nice neighborhood. And yes, it was built in the '70s and has always been considered a desirable neighborhood. I know lots of people that bought new and still live there and there are many new people, as well. Back when it was new, it was unusual with the contemporary houses as we were more into the colonials back then.
