I called TWC and told them I was considering switching my Internet ISP to Earthlink.
TWC dropped my combined Internet and cable bill $30 a month on a one year contract.
I've had Road Runner for many years with no problems or major outages to speak of.
I'm looking to get TWC RR but I dont know what speed I need to get. How many Mbps do I seed to stream video?
It really depends.
Are you streaming out (Orb, Slingbox), internally (Slingbox) or in (Hulu, athde.net, etc)? Going out is much, much more difficult. I have RR 500/7 or what ever it is (had it forever w/ no changes) and Slinging out is tough but internally and in is fine.

Why would internal streaming be dependent on your ISP? Isn't that data just traveling over your internal network?

You can start off with a slower speed if you want to save money and then bump it up higher later if the slower speed doesn't work out for your needs. Price wise, it doesn't cost much more for the higher bandwidth speed.
As someone else indicated, a lot depends on what's on your side of the TWC cable modem that could greatly impact video streaming performance.
We use Sprint for our internet and we love it. If we have cell phone signal, we can get internet and it is just as fast as the internet at work. It's great for traveling, too, if you have a laptop, since the AirCard plugs into the USB. Yesterday I took my laptop across the street to show the neighbors something online (they don't have the internet at all) and I never had any problems - in fact, my elderly neighbor surfed the net until the laptop battery was about dead. Our cell phone and internet are on one bill. Oh, and just to clarify, internet service has nothing to do with cell phones, it's just the signals. I'm not an IT person or technically savvy in any way, so I can't give any details on that stuff, but I can say that we have been very happy with the sevice.
