I'm relocating to the Raleigh/Durham area for work, I'll be working in Wake County and I'm trying to figure out a good area to live in.
I found a listing in the Wilders Grove neighborhood, but I don't know anything about it. I see that there is a "youth center" nearby, in my neck of the woods that means crime and gangs are nearby too, sorry if anyone is offended by my observation, I just don't know what the local population consists of.
I have a RE agent looking for me, but I'm just trying to get a feel for the area, and won't spend more than 125k for now.

thanks!!!!
Hi! The only Wilder's Grove Youth Ctr I know of, and I know the area very well, is the one off Willow Oak Rd, it's run by parent volunteers and is a true old fashion community facilty Wilders Grove Youth League Home Page one of my kids played softball there. It's very safe. A local judge used to be a parent volunteer, i don't he'd have volunteered there if it was unsafe.
As for being a newcomer to this area, I suggest you do a street view google search of various areas so you can judge for yourself, study maps of Raleigh and surrounding areas, got to our co's tax record www.wakegov.com to see what homes in the neighborhood sell for, and, look at crime stats on the area you are interested in (think these are avail on this site?). Once you've educated yourself on the general area (s) you are considered, I'm sure someone here can help you narrow it down. $125k doesn't buy you much here, as posters suggested, a condo, townhouse, or a small house in an up and coming neighborhood. I'm happy to give you some neighborhood background if you'll DM me with what you have in mind. I've lived in Raleigh 30+yrs and know the area well.
Good luck!

FWIW, I agree that the OP might want to check that area out, although I think he may be hard pressed to find a single family home with a garage in his stated price range.
This is true. King Charles area is not an urban grid. It's definitely a 50s suburban grid. No debating that. It's also car dependent. No debating that.

Culturally, it's similar to the downtown areas that it's adjacent to. I consider that a good thing. In terms of yard size, it's a middle ground between the 1/10 acre lots in downtown and living in Cary or North Raleigh, b/c it's laid out as a suburban neighborhood.

I rented an apartment Cary for 1.5 years. It's a great part of town, but not for me. There are different areas of town for different people, that's the beauty of the Triangle. I'm quite comfortable in saying that I believe the King Charles area is more urban than North Raleigh or Cary.
