Don't look for any deals up by Creedmoor. We just moved here from Iowa and had the same sticker shock.

We had an acreage in Iowa (Ames area) and we bought an acreage here too because I have horses. The IA house and the Creedmoor house could be considered equivalent comp's.

Our house in IA was listed for $265K and sold for $261K. The house in Creedmoor was listed at $400K and the guy would not come down on price at all so that's what we paid. We originally thought we could stay below $350K but it just wasn't realistic at all.

So for us, yes it was sticker shock and much more expensive to live here. But I suppose just about any place would be more expensive coming from IA.

There's a subdividion off Purnell in Wake Forest called Willow Creek. You can put a double wide there or a modular. There are lots that are between 1-2 acres and some have horses out there. I'm sure Leighbhe can tell you more about it b/c I believe she lives by there. There were lots around $20K and $30K with well/septic. You can also purchase one with a mobile home around $125K. The subdivison is mostly dirty roads, kind of a country feel, but not too far from town. Some of it's located in Wake County and some in Granville.
