My family is moving down to Chapel Hill next summer from Long Island. In fact, we are coming down next week to pick a housing community.
I do understand some of the comments on this thread about fear of the triangle area becoming just like Long Island.
However, not all of us who live on Long Island will bring a LI attitude. We are moving away from Long Island because we want a different lifestyle. We want to be around kind people who smile and wave at their neighbors. We want our child to grow up in a community of caring and loving attitudes. We have not found these things on Long Island and perhaps we are different because my wife and I did not grow up on Long Island.
We are so excited to be moving to Chapel Hill and we will definitely have our arms wide open to the southern kindness that we have already experienced there. I did not hear a horn beep once while in Chapel Hill nor did I see anyone cutting each other off constantly on the highway. I know Chapel Hill will not be a perfect world by any standards but I do know it will be a welcome change from what we have here on Long Island.
Please be assured that all of us NY people are not rude, many of us simply need a different environment to help bring out all the goodness.
